101.9 The Bull Boise's Best Country
Every fall, a remarkable event unfolds on the western side of the Treasure Valley. Kevin and Brenda Mee, the well-known hosts from Boise’s 101.9 The Bull, invite the community to their Annual Potato Gleaning Event—a heartwarming tradition of giving back that benefits Idaho’s military families and veterans through Operation Grateful Hearts.
For over a decade, Kevin and Brenda have transformed a simple idea—rescuing leftover potatoes from farmers’ fields—into a large-scale effort that helps feed hundreds of families. These potatoes, left behind due to cosmetic imperfections, are still perfectly good to eat. The Mees saw an opportunity to reduce waste while supporting local veterans through a partnership with Operation Grateful Hearts.
The event invites volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to join in the gleaning, making it a perfect family-friendly outing. From kids to church groups, everyone comes together for a day of fun, hard work, and a shared passion for helping others. This year, enjoy hay rides to the potato field, where you can gather as many fresh potatoes as you want. Plus, enter a raffle for your chance to win many great items! The $10 donation per vehicle directly supports Operation Grateful Hearts, ensuring that your effort makes a real difference. And a big thanks to Coors Light for supporting this year’s Potato Gleaning.
Want to be part of the annual potato gleaning event? Mark your calendars for October 11th, from 8am to 4pm, at The Farm in Emmett (1990 E. Black Canyon Highway). Gather your friends and family—you’ll need gloves, buckets, and a giving spirit! The event runs all day, so come anytime between 8am and 4pm.
Join Kevin & Brenda Mee on October 11th and make a difference—because in the Treasure Valley, we’re not just harvesting potatoes, we’re harvesting generosity!
